Glock 34 Competition - Here's what you need to keep in mind: The Glock 34 Generation 5 is probably the best Glock to buy in 2019. The Glock 34 Generation 5 is superior to the Glock 34 Generation 4 because of the improved trigger and fifth generation barrel. The barrel and slide make it easier to shoot than other Gen 5 Glocks.
The latest version of Glock's "improved pistols" is the Glock 34 Generation 5 in 9x19mm. Although originally intended for competition, it has also found use in police and military units that appreciate the superior shooting characteristics of the Glock 34 over other Glocks. Its release has interesting implications for the future of Glocks as it is the only long slide model of the fifth generation.

The Glock 34 is a toned-down version of Glock's first competitor, the Glock 17L. The Glock 17L packs a 6-inch barrel into a 9.5-inch long frame. Although it saw some use on the competition circuit, it was a "Glock" to many as the slide hung about two inches from the end of the frame, causing the gun's balance to be tough and give it a criminal look.

The Glock 34 reduced this by half an inch, reducing the overall length to 8.8 inches and the same barrel dimensions. This reduction in size makes it better balanced, more balanced in size, and makes building the holster more efficient.
As a result, the 34 has seen some acceptance by tactical teams who may be planning to use the Glock 34 as a primary weapon in confined spaces where the improved shooting characteristics due to the barrel tall were appreciated. French special forces are known to use the Glock 34, and according to the Glock website, some SWAT units also use it.
Due to the popularity of the Glock 34, Glock produced similar long-slide versions of the Glock 41, 40, and 35 in .45 ACP, 10mm Auto, and .40 S&W, respectively. But Glock makes the fourth generation of Glock 41s, 40s, and 35s, and it hasn't been updated to the standards of the fifth generation. Only 5th generation Glocks were chambered in 9x19mm.
Perhaps this indicates that Glock, following market trends, is focusing on the 9mm rather than trying to offer a wide variety of pistols. This makes sense as many police departments and federal agencies are moving from .40 S&W and .45 ACP to 9x19mm and special calibers as 9mm bullet technology improves to .357 SIG.
Glock 34 Gen 5 Competition
So, the best Glock that one can buy in 2019 is the Glock 34 Generation 5. The Glock 34 Generation 5 is superior to the Glock 34 Generation 4 because of the trigger and improved barrel of the fifth generation. Easier to shoot and more accurate than other Gen 5 Glocks. Although the benefits of long sight distances have diminished in the era of pistol optics, a long slide and heavy barrel are always assets when it comes to aiming the next gun. For most users, the Glock 34 has just the right amount of extra length.

I know my way around a Glock. It has been my hand of choice since '93 when I bought a Gen 2 Glock 23. Since then I have owned several 9mm and .40S&W models. Currently, I have a Glock 19 or Glock 43 as my EDC weapon, with a 9mm as well. But when I compete in 3-gun competition, the Glock 34 is my go-to gun, and as mentioned in my previous article, "The Glock 34, Perfect for the 3-Gun," for those of you who want to take your hand aside. performance to the next level, look no further than Agency Arms. Shortly after getting the Gen 4 Glock 34, I was talking to the mad scientists at Agency Arms about a possible conversion. I am always impressed by their art, performance and innocent malice. Finally, I will soon own an Agency Arms Glock 34.
Founded in January 2015, Agency Arms can be considered a newcomer in the field of modern firearms. However, you wouldn't know it if you ever held or shot one of their highly modified Glocks. The innovation and detail produced by this old, LEO-owned company is amazing. No part of the gun was overlooked during the manufacturing of the Agency Arms Glock. In the next few parts, I will look at the main features of the Agency Arms Glock 34.

The factory Glock polymer has some advantages and disadvantages. As proven by decades of law enforcement service and military use, polymer durability is second to none. Up until the fourth generation Glock, the frames were all the same size. A removable design is now included in the Gen 4 models, allowing the user to customize it to a certain extent. Agency Arms takes frame design several steps further. Glock introduced finger grooves in the 3rd generation, and despite receiving lukewarm reception, decided to continue that design in the Gen 4 models. Agency Arms, at the customer's request, can make mill grooves and engage to allow the shooter to grip and work well.
The trigger guard also fits under the surgeon's knife, reshaped and tightened in all the right places. The product is pulled out from under the scanner, which helps the user get the highest possible price. The trigger spring is re-opened and positioned for easy use when wearing smart gloves. Above the "trigger" on the sides of the frame, you will find the "accelerator cut". Intelligent polymer re-shaping allows for lower gun pressure to help reduce muzzle rise for faster shooting.
Agency Arms offers 3 different types of slide modifications: Field Combat, Hybrid Special and Urban Combat. I chose the Urban Combat Slide because it is the lightest model they make. The factory Glock 34 now has a window cut into the top of the slide. However Agency Arms opens it up even more and removes a lot of material from the sides of the slide. CNC machine cut 2 new front windshields, which help reduce weight. One of my favorite changes to the slides is the much needed addition of front slides. I prefer the check press from the front of the slide and always thought Glock needed to install these. Instead, the center answers the call with 6 new serrations and a complete overhaul of the existing dials. These are known as DNA collectors because of their aggressive cheese grater status.
To make urban warfare lighter, the unmodified frame of the Glock 34 (minus the barrel and recoil spring) weighs 15.2 ounces. The Agency Arms Glock 34 Side weighs just 12.4 ounces…with a Trijicon RMR mounted on top! I would have compared the two before mounting the RMR, but a healthy dose of Loctite and a perfect zero won't let me remove it when I write. However, this comparison shows how light the modified slide is. If I subtract the known weight of the RMR and the mounting plate while adding the weight of the MOS slide plate and doing the math, I get 3.4 oz or 22% from the factory slide. The weight reduction in no way compromises the performance or durability that has always been a hallmark of Glock pistols.

No competition rifle is complete without some blasting work. Agency Arms is completely customizable with its full arm mounted assembly. This beautiful flat-faced aluminum instrument is set up with a very minimal pickup, followed by a clear and audible break. With less travel and an instant reset, the shooter gets back to the target quickly with shooting groups. Agency Arms can attach a scope to your Glock or send you an assembly for installation. Either way, it's a huge improvement over the factory polymer trigger. Check out Scott's article on the weapon attachment here.
With the speed of cycling armor, resets and subsequent shots, we're missing something if reloading isn't addressed. Agency Arms offers an excellent magwell to help speed up mag changes. It's not one of the big dirty jobs found in a race gun. This magwell is a solid piece of aluminum cut to accept the gun inside or outside the hip. The perfect balance between form and function. Installation can be handled either
