In my humble opinion, a stock Glock has four weaknesses: the sights, the trigger, the slide stop, and the guide rod. We believe that a polymer guide rod can produce more inefficiency than a metal or tungsten type. A heavier spring and guide rod like the one we used to build the Glock also reduces recoil. If you are using a suppressor it is easy enough to turn off the light spring for proper suppressor/gun operation. For our 3 pistol Glock 34 build we used a Glockmeister Tungsten recoil spring assembly with an 18lb spring. Finally, the slide stops. I believe this is a weak point in machine gun design. The body is weak and depends mostly on the small body of the slides and the relatively weak spring. I have personally had to use a Glock pistol in life or death defense where the slide stop malfunctioned and locked the slide back after one round (Murphy's Law). Fortunately, the one round I fired saved my life. This will be an easy fix (tape, rack, bang) if I need to write more rounds. However, all machines are subject to failure, all machines have weak points, if it happens it will, and this may be the only design flaw in the Glock. This is completely preventable with proper maintenance (annual changes), cleaning and inspection of one's firearm. There's no "easy fix" for slide stop malfunctions, but it's not a big deal as long as the springs are replaced as needed (which is part of routine maintenance). Most of our guys own Glocks, many of them own Glocks, and one shoots competitively for the Glock Press Club and is a certified Glock veteran (O did all the work in this building). Glocks have come a long way since their invention and now come in all shapes, sizes and styles. Many of the different models offered are actually different animals, but the general mechanics and performance of all Glock pistols are similar enough to make a successful text where the general information applies to all.

The Glock was truly revolutionary in so many areas that it sent gun manufacturers into a frenzy trying to deliver similar performance results. Its polymer frame makes it lighter than the competition, which is a big plus for those who need to carry it frequently. We went with a Lone Wolf frame for our build which is built to Glock specs but is not a Glock frame. The grip position is slightly different, we changed it again by adding the usual stippling and further covering the mag release area. Relatively few parts are very easy to disassemble and reassemble. It's easier to clean and maintain than previous semi-auto rifles, and like any mechanical device...fewer moving parts means less chance of failure. Do a good job. One such change that has attracted a lot of attention is the grip angle. Basically it affects the way the hand is held in the sagittal plane while firing the gun. It has a different "feel" than a 1911 pistol shooting, so if you are used to shooting it may take some adjustment in your shooting style and/or hand grip. Whether you like Glock pistols or not, the grip is consistently more accurate than its semi-auto predecessors.
